Ingredients in Healthy Turkey and Sweet Potato Chili
It's light, it's healthy, and it's comforting! I would say that turkey and sweet potatoes are the star ingredients, but each and every one plays an important role to make this so darn delicious.
- Sweet potatoes: adds just a touch of sweetness to the dish, while adding another layer of depth with it's soft texture.
- Turkey: adds lots of protein, and it tastes amazing!
- Black beans: more protein! It's a classic in chili and so comforting.
- Corn: the sweet addition that is the perfect companion to black beans.
- Tomatoes: what's a chili without tomatoes? I use them straight from the box (or can) and it's your choice of strained or crushed.
- Onions & garlic: these are really the base of the flavor, and they also add more health benefits!
- Cheese: you can go with the classic of cheddar or opt for other flavors like mozzarella or an italian blend. Either way, you can't have a chili without it. 😉
- The spices: includes the basic salt, pepper, and garlic herb seasoning, but also chili powder, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, onion powder, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Feel free to increase or reduce the amount of spice you put in. Everyone has different preferences!
